Wordpress Goes to the Dogs

I know this is fairly treasonous but I've been adapting Wordpress ( http://wordpress.org/ ) for a client who can't afford much but wants somewhere to show off and eventually sell her English Bull Terrier puppies.

It took a lot of doing, it was my first time, so I had quite a few false starts. The functionality is fine and there's a lot of documentation, but getting it to look like it should involves altering a lot of very badly constructed and poorly commented code.

You can see how I did at http://whittlepridebullterriers.co.uk

I tried a configurable theme first, called K2, but odd things kept happening to the sidebar and it insisted on reoptimising my beautifully optimised (yet garish) header. So I gritted my teeth and went back to basics and altered the php and css by hand. It wasn't difficult to be honest, just a bit time consuming, there are a lot of people talking about wordpress on forums so the help is good. There are loads of plugins too to help customise it.

However, it is what it is, a blog program with addons and while it is enough for most people's private needs, I would only recommend it as the single solution for a business under special circumstances.
